Falls Church Restaurant Week

Restaurant Week seems to be the latest fad…like the cupcakes…the food trucks…the brunch places… but I’m not complaining!  Falls Church, Virginia, is debuting their Restaurant Week starting on Monday, March 18 through Sunday, March 24!  Falls Church is just outside of Arlington for those DC snobs who aren’t as familiar with NoVA 😉  (you know I’m … Continue reading

Lunch at Meat in a Box

Yes, you can definitely chuckle at the name of this Falls Church eatery! (And I don’t think they named it after a Saturday Night Live skit…)  I would describe Meat in a Box as a great little kebab hole-in-the-wall along Lee Hwy near downtown Falls Church.  I have driven by it for two years and never thought to stop until a friend told us it was actually awesome food.

We went for lunch one sunny and cold afternoon.  The parking lot is rather small, as is the space inside, but the owner behind the register was super nice and the place was extremely clean (like I would have probably eaten off the floor…).  We wanted to sit inside and eat so we had to wait for a few minutes for one of the five tables to open, but it looked like most people ordered their food to go.

Meat in a Box

The food was absolutely delicious.  You could tell that the meat and vegetables were fresh; from the counter I could see the kebabs and boxes being prepared.  I had a fresh salad, with a side of veggies, and chicken with rice.  The chicken was perfect and I’m not sure what kind of rice was served with my meal, but it had great flavor.  (Next time I would probably skip the side of veggies as I wanted them a little more grilled.)  We also had the hummus and fresh pita points, which were also great.  This is certainly a spot to put on your list if you are looking for fresh and good kebabs!  It worth a little bit of a drive too.
