Dinner at Jack Rose

Jack Rose is known for its huge variety of whiskeys/bourbons, but what I love about Jack Rose is their Saloon Menu (served at their 1st floor bar) and specifically their Double Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup.

030

This delicious creation is made of cheddar and gruyere cheeses with buttered Texas toast.  Wowzers… this is the grilled cheese/soup combo that people dream of…well if you dream of food like me…?!

It’s worth a try… and add in one of their cocktail creations and you will be one happy camper!

Lunch at Cheesetique

One of my coworkers lives in Del Ray and was constantly talking about this cheese shop/restaurant called Cheesetique, so because I love basically anything having to do with cheese we had to try it out.  We chose a Saturday to mosey around Old Town Alexandria then drove up Mt. Vernon and walked around the quaint area of Del Ray before we popped in to Cheesetique and grabbed a table.

The menu ranges from cheese platters to grown-up grilled cheeses to a variety of mac ‘n cheeses.  The ambiance is sort of like a cafe slash wine bar slash local specialty store.  We really enjoyed our food and we had time to take part in the free Saturday wine tasting too.  The front of the space, which is the cheese shop, has more cheese options than I have probably ever seen, along with a wall of wine that surprisingly has great prices.  This would be the perfect place to pick up hors d’oeuvre or appetizer if you didn’t have time to sit down and eat.
